A drama that explores the brutal lives of the street children of Brazil. Pixote is a ten year old homeless boy living in Sao Paulo. He is arrested during a police sweep of street children and is brutalized at the reformatory he is sent to, where abuse and violence are rampant. One of the other children is murdered by the prison guards, who then turn around and frame another prisoner for the killing. Pixote helps them escape along with some other kids, but life outside the prison is equally short and brutal for street kids with nowhere to go.
