Pistol Whipped is a 2008 action-thriller film starring Steven Seagal as a former detective turned gambling addict, Matt Conlin. The movie was directed by Roel Reiné, and it was written by J.D. Zeik. This movie marked the fifth collaboration between Reiné and Seagal. The movie is set in Atlantic City and follows Matt Conlin's life as an alcoholic, gambling-addicted ex-cop who is estranged from his family. Matt finds work as a security guard at a casino and becomes friends with a dealer named Eddie (John P. Gulino). Matt soon falls back into old habits and ends up owing the casino owner, Mr. Blue (Bernie McInerney), a large sum of money.

To pay off his debt, Mr. Blue offers Matt a job to perform hits for him. Matt reluctantly accepts the job and works for Mr. Blue as a hitman. However, Matt's conscience starts to get the better of him, and he decides to take down Mr. Blue and his operation.

Pistol Whipped is a dark and gritty action movie, with plenty of fight scenes and gun battles. The movie was shot using mostly handheld cameras, giving it a raw and intense feel. Reiné stated that he wanted Pistol Whipped to feel like a throwback to the gritty crime movies of the 1970s.

Steven Seagal delivers a solid performance as Matt Conlin, convincingly portraying a man struggling with addiction and trying to make amends for his past mistakes. Bernie McInerney plays the role of the ruthless casino owner, Mr. Blue, to great effect, making him one of the most memorable villains of Seagal's filmography.

John P. Gulino plays Eddie, who befriends Matt and tries to help him overcome his addiction. Ashley Greenfield plays Lacy, Matt's estranged daughter, who he is trying to reconnect with throughout the film.

Pistol Whipped is a departure from Seagal's previous action movies, which often featured him as a one-man army taking down numerous bad guys. In this movie, Seagal's character is more vulnerable and flawed, which makes the action scenes feel more realistic.

Critics were mixed on Pistol Whipped, with some praising its gritty style and Seagal's performance, and others critiquing its predictable plot and lack of originality. However, the movie remains a cult classic among Seagal fans and is worth a watch for anyone looking for a gritty action movie with a strong lead performance.

In conclusion, Pistol Whipped is a dark and gritty action movie that showcases Steven Seagal in a more vulnerable role. With plenty of fight scenes and gun battles, it's a thrill ride that's sure to satisfy fans of action movies. Despite mixed reviews, the movie remains a cult classic worth a watch.

Pistol Whipped is a 2008 action movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 36 minutes. It has received moderate reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 5.2.
