Zhang is forced to use all his skills to keep his cover intact while also trying to find a way to free his family from Tang's clutches. Along the way, we get a glimpse into the inner workings of the criminal underworld as well as the moral dilemmas faced by both the police and the criminals.

One of the standout elements of "Peace Breaker" is the chemistry between the two lead actors, Qianyuan Wang and Tao Liu. Wang does an excellent job portraying a man torn between his loyalty to the police and his growing affinity for Tang, while Liu is suitably menacing as the ruthless gang leader. The scenes between the two are filled with tension and the audience is kept guessing as to what each will do next.

The supporting cast also does a good job, with Jiayi Feng providing some much-needed comic relief as Zhang's wisecracking partner. The action scenes are well choreographed but not over-the-top, with the filmmakers opting for a more grounded approach that makes the violence feel more realistic.
