Pattiyal is a 2006 Tamil-language action thriller film directed by Vishnuvardhan and produced by S. Shankar. It features Bharath Srinivasan and Arya in the lead roles, while Pooja Umashankar plays a pivotal role. The movie revolves around two friends, Kosi (Bharath) and Pattiyal K. Shekar (Arya), whose lives take an unexpected turn after they get involved with a gangster.

The movie gets its name from the famous locality in Chennai, Pattiyal, which is known for its underground criminal activities. Kosi and Shekar start off as acquaintances but soon become close friends. Kosi, who is an orphan, works in a bar and has a simple life. Shekar, on the other hand, is more ambitious and desires to make it big in life.

The story takes a turn when Kosi falls in love with a prostitute, Kalyani (Pooja Umashankar), who works in the bar where he works. Meanwhile, Shekar, who has been yearning to work for a gangster named Anna (Cochin Haneefa), finally gets his opportunity when he impresses Anna with his fighting skills.

Anna assigns Shekar to retrieve a bag of money from a man named Sannasi (Santhana Bharathi), who owes him money. Shekar and his team of goons successfully get the money from Sannasi, but Kosi, who was at the wrong place at the wrong time, gets caught by the police and lands in jail. Kalyani helps Kosi get bail, and he returns to the bar.

In the meantime, Shekar discovers that the bag of money he retrieved belonged to another gangster named Kadhir (Azhagam Perumal). Kadhir, who is furious, sends his men after Shekar, but Shekar manages to escape. Kadhir then kidnaps Kalyani, and Shekar, in a bid to save her, betrays Anna and switches sides to work for Kadhir.

The movie then becomes a cat and mouse game between the two gangsters, with Kosi being caught in the crossfire. Both Anna and Kadhir try to use Kosi as a pawn to get to the other, but Kosi, who has nothing to do with their rivalry, tries to stay away from it all and save himself.

The movie is a raw and gritty portrayal of the underbelly of Chennai's criminal world. It shows the struggles of two friends who get caught up in a world that they never thought they would be a part of. The movie has a great cast, with Bharath and Arya giving solid performances as Kosi and Shekar. Pooja Umashankar, who plays Kalyani, also shines in her role.

The music of the movie, composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, is also a highlight. The songs are catchy and blend well with the movie's overall tone. The movie is known for its realistic action sequences and gripping storyline.

In conclusion, Pattiyal is a must-watch movie for fans of action thrillers. It's a movie that will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. With its great cast, engaging storyline, and fantastic music, Pattiyal is a movie that should not be missed.
