Parvarish is a classic Bollywood movie from 1977 that stars an ensemble of some of the biggest stars from that era, namely Shammi Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, and Vinod Khanna. The movie revolves around two friends who are employed in a police department. While one of the friends is honest and hardworking, the other is corrupt and greedy. The good friend has an adopted daughter named Neetu, and the corrupt friend has a son named Ravi, who is a spoilt brat. The story takes a dramatic turn when Ravi is kidnapped, and the kidnapper demands a ransom from his father.
The movie opens with a scene where Inspector Amar (played by Amitabh Bachchan) saves a wealthy businessman's life during a robbery. The man happens to be Thakur Jaswant Singh's (played by Shammi Kapoor) friend, and he offers Amar a job in his department. Amar gladly accepts the offer and starts working as Thakur's assistant. We are also introduced to another police officer named Insp. Dayal (played by Vinod Khanna), who is also Thakur's friend and Amar's senior.
Thakur has an adopted daughter named Neetu who was abandoned by her parents. Amar is immediately smitten by Neetu's beauty and is taken aback when he learns the truth about her past. Meanwhile, Ravi (played by Shashi Kapoor), the son of a corrupt police officer, is expelled from college for indulging in ragging and other illegal activities. His father is disappointed in him but still showers him with expensive gifts.
One day, Ravi is kidnapped by a group of smugglers, and his father's corrupt practices come to light. The kidnapper demands a ransom, and the corrupt father is forced to seek Thakur's help to rescue his son. Thakur agrees to help and, with the help of his two friends, sets out to rescue Ravi. During the course of the rescue mission, Amar and Dayal come across various challenges and obstacles that test their integrity and loyalty.
The movie has all the elements of a classic Bollywood drama - action, romance, comedy, and suspense. Shammi Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, and Vinod Khanna deliver stellar performances, and their chemistry is infectious. While Shammi Kapoor steals the show with his wit and charm, Amitabh Bachchan shines as the honest and upright police officer who is torn between his duty and his love for Neetu.
The romantic track between Amar and Neetu is subtle and endearing, adding a touch of sweetness to the otherwise intense plot. The music of the movie is also noteworthy, with classic tracks like "Aaj se pehle aaj se zyada" and "Tum kitni khoobsurat ho" still popular among fans of Bollywood music.
Overall, Parvarish is a well-made movie that showcases the talents of some of the most iconic actors of the time. The plot is engaging, and the characters are well-etched and memorable. The movie is a perfect example of the kind of wholesome entertainment that was prevalent in 70s Bollywood, and it is a must-watch for fans of the genre.
