Parasyte: Part 1, directed by Takashi Yamazaki, is a 2014 Japanese science fiction film based on the manga series, Parasyte by Hitoshi Iwaaki. Ai Hashimoto portrays the character of Satomi Murano, Shinichi's childhood friend, and potential love interest. Kazuki Kitamura plays the role of Hideo Shimada, a freelance journalist who uncovers the truth about the Parasytes.

Masahiro Higashide plays the character of Takeshi Hirokawa, the leader of a group of Parasytes, who seeks to eradicate humanity. Tadanobu Asano stars as Goto, a Parasyte who seeks Shinichi and Migi while Jun Kunimura portrays the character of the detective Hirama, who is investigating the recent spate of murders.
