Parasmani is a romantic fantasy film released in 1963, directed by Babubhai Mistry. The movie stars Gitanjali, Mahipal, Nalini Chonkar and Anjali Devi in lead roles. The film was produced and distributed by Paras Films. The story of Parasmani revolves around two kingdoms, one dominated by men (Jalpa) and the other by women (Vijaygarh). The film takes the audience on a mystical journey where a prince from Jalpa falls in love with a princess from Vijaygarh. The prince, played by Mahipal, happens to find a magical stone called Parasmani which, as per legend, can provide wealth and prosperity to the kingdom that possesses it. The prince decides to take the stone to his kingdom and offer it to his father, the king. However, he is unaware that the stone has supernatural powers and can fulfill even the wildest of wishes.
While traveling back to his kingdom with the stone, the prince gets lost and ends up in the kingdom of Vijaygarh. There he meets the beautiful princess Vijaylaxmi, played by Gitanjali, and falls in love with her. However, their love story is not without hurdles. The citizens of each kingdom are not fond of the other and are frigid towards their inhabitants. They often engage in battles and don't easily allow visitors from the opposite side of the border. So, when the prince of Jalpa enters Vijaygarh, he is suspected of being a spy and is imprisoned.
While in prison, the prince uses the power of the Parasmani and wishes to see Vijaylaxmi. To his surprise, she appears before him, and he realizes that the stone holds immense supernatural powers. He then wishes for her release, and they both escape from the kingdom. Soon after, they face another problem- the people of their kingdoms will not allow their union as they see it as betraying their own sides.
The couple is now on a mission to convince the rulers of both kingdoms that their union is not about personal benefits but is based on pure love. To convince the people, the prince decides to gamble his life on a deadly game of chakravyuh (a circular battle formation) and emerge victorious. If the Prince wins the battle, Vijaylaxmi's hand in marriage would be the prize.
What follows is a visually stunning battle sequence that has an intense culmination. It features a fascinating twist that takes the audience by surprise. In the end, the Prince emerges victorious, and he and Vijaylaxmi get together while bringing an end to the ongoing feud between their kingdoms.
