Pallikkoodam, directed by debutant director Sajith Jagadnandan, is a heart-warming and poignant tale about the struggles of a village school teacher, who tries to impart knowledge to his students who come from an economically deprived background. The movie starts with the new academic year at the government school in a small village located in Kerala. The story revolves around Anirudh (played by Vineeth), an idealistic teacher who is passionate about teaching and believes that education is the key to unlocking the full potential of his students. Anirudh is a young and enthusiastic teacher who has a different approach to teaching. He tries to break the shackles of tradition and instills creativity and imagination in his students. He is determined to impart education that is not just limited to the pages of the textbook. His motto is to teach his students to think for themselves and become independent learners.
Anirudh's main challenge is to get his students to focus on their education despite the many distractions that come their way – poverty, illiteracy, social and economic inequality, and lack of support from their parents. To make matters worse, some of his students are also involved in petty crimes and trouble with the local authorities. Anirudh believes that education is the only way to save his students from a life of crime, poverty and illiteracy. However, he faces stiff opposition from the parents and the local authorities who are not supportive of his efforts.
Anjali Nair, who plays the role of Maya, is a new entrant to the village. She comes from a privileged background and joins Anirudh's school as a teacher. However, her initial stint as a teacher is not a smooth one as she finds it difficult to teach the students who come from a different social and economic background. But, as time goes on, Maya begins to understand Anirudh's approach to teaching and eventually, both of them work together to uplift their students.
Sudheer Karamana plays the role of a stern and traditional headmaster who is against Anirudh's teaching methods. He believes in the old ways and is resistant to change. He tries to convince Anirudh to stick to the prescribed methodology and often goes against him.
The movie is an inspiring tale of hope, determination, and perseverance. The director, Sajith Jagadnandan, has beautifully portrayed the character of Anirudh, a passionate teacher who is determined to make a difference in his students' lives. The film is a tribute to the selfless dedication of teachers and their impact on children's lives.
The cinematographer, Sujith Vaassudev, has done an excellent job of capturing the beauty of the village and the emotions of the characters. The music by Bijibal is also noteworthy as it elevates the emotional impact of the film.
In conclusion, Pallikkoodam is a movie that grips you emotionally, and it is a must-watch for all those who believe in the power of education. The film beautifully portrays the struggles that educationists face while trying to make a difference in the lives of the children they teach. It is an inspiring story of self-discovery and hope that is sure to leave a lasting impression on the audience.
