Outlaws is a thrilling Australian crime drama released in 2017. The movie tells the story of a group of bikers who join forces to fight a ruthless drug cartel who are responsible for their beloved brother's death. The film opens with a brutal and bloody scene of a drive-by shooting that sets the stage for the intense and violent proceedings that follow. We are introduced to the main character, former outlaw biker member, and ex-convict Paddo (Ryan Corr), who has been released from prison after serving time for drug-related crimes. Determined to go straight and start a new life, Paddo tries to reconnect with his former girlfriend, Skye (Abbey Lee), who has moved on and is now the girlfriend of his best friend, Sugar (Matt Nable), the current president of the Copperheads outlaw biker gang.

Paddo's attempts to lead a crime-free life are soon disrupted when he receives the news that his younger brother, Skink (Josh McConville), has been brutally murdered. Desperate for revenge and justice, Paddo sets out to find his brother's killers, enlisting the help of the Copperheads, including Skye and Sugar.

As they investigate Skink's death, the group uncovers a larger conspiracy involving a powerful and dangerous drug cartel led by the ruthless Kath (Simone Kessell). As Paddo and the Copperheads get closer to the truth, they become targets of the cartel, leading to a violent and explosive showdown that will determine the fate of everyone involved.

Outlaws is a well-crafted film that effectively merges gritty realism with the exciting visuals and pulsating soundtrack of a classic biker movie. Director Stephen McCallum masterfully captures the raw energy and masculine intensity of the world of outlaw bikers while infusing it with a tense and suspenseful narrative.

The film's standout performances come from the three leads: Ryan Corr, Abbey Lee, and Simone Kessell. Corr delivers a magnetic and compelling portrayal of Paddo, a conflicted and tortured protagonist torn between his loyalty to his family and his desire to break free from his criminal past. Lee shines as Skye, a fierce and independent woman caught between two men and two worlds, trying to navigate her own path in a male-dominated subculture. Kessell is perfectly cast as the cold and calculating villain, Kath, a ruthless drug lord who will stop at nothing to maintain her power and wealth.

The supporting cast of Matt Nable (as Sugar) and the rest of the Copperheads are equally impressive, with each actor delivering a nuanced and authentic portrayal of the outlaw biker lifestyle. The film's setting, the picturesque Australian countryside, is stunningly captured by cinematographer Shelley Farthing-Dawe, who infuses the film with a rich and vibrant landscape that contrasts sharply with the violent and gritty subject matter.

Overall, Outlaws is a thrilling and engaging movie that is sure to please fans of the biker genre and crime dramas. Its strong performances and authentic portrayal of the outlaw biker culture make it stand out from other films in the genre, while its tense and suspenseful narrative will keep viewers on the edge of their seats until the final credits roll.

Outlaws is a 2019 thriller with a runtime of 1 hour and 32 minutes. It has received poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 5.3 and a MetaScore of 24.
