Our Italian Husband is a romantic comedy film released in 2005, directed by Ilaria Borrelli and written by S.M. Hardy. The story revolves around an American woman named Anabel who lives in a small town in the US. She is a struggling artist and in her late 30s. She has been married twice but is always unlucky in love. Anabel feels frustrated and unfulfilled with her life and decides to take a break and go on a trip to Italy.

While in Italy, Anabel meets an attractive and charming Italian man named Paolo. They hit it off and start spending a lot of time together. Paolo is everything that Anabel has ever wanted in a man, and they soon fall in love.

However, things take an unexpected turn when Paolo asks Anabel to marry him. Anabel is hesitant at first, but Paolo assures her that they are perfect for each other and that he can offer her the stable and loving relationship she has always wanted. Anabel eventually agrees and they get married in Italy.

But when Anabel returns to the US with her new husband, she soon discovers that Paolo has a lot of secrets. He doesn't speak English, and he's not Italian at all, but Croatian. Paolo's real name is Mario, and he has been paid to marry Anabel so that he can get a green card and stay in the US.

Anabel feels betrayed and hurt by Paolo's lies, but she also realizes that she has fallen deeply in love with him. Paolo also admits that he has come to love her and that he never expected to fall for her for real. Together, they try to figure things out and make their unconventional marriage work, even after several unexpected twists.

The movie highlights the cultural differences between the US and Italy as well as the different priorities people place on love and marriage. The characters are quirky and interesting, and the dialogue is funny and genuine. Natasha Richardson is superb in her role as Anabel, and she manages to bring a lot of depth and emotion to her character. Sean Harris and Marton Csokas also give excellent performances as Paolo/Mario and Ray, Anabel's ex-husband, respectively.

In addition to its romantic comedy elements, Our Italian Husband also raises some thought-provoking questions about the nature of love, relationships, and commitment. It explores how people can be both vulnerable and courageous when it comes to affairs of the heart.

Overall, Our Italian Husband is an endearing and heartwarming film that showcases the beauty of Italy and captures the spirit of love and adventure. It's a great movie for anyone who loves romantic comedies or wants to see a unique take on the classic marriage plot.
