In the 2008 Indian comedy One Two Three, Tusshar Kapoor plays Laxminarayan, a small-time conman who dreams of joining a gang of big-time criminals. When he finally gets his chance, he finds himself caught up in a web of double-crosses, mistaken identities, and high-stakes hijinks. Suniel Shetty plays the leader of the gang Laxminarayan wants to join, a ruthless thug named Mukesh. Mukesh tasks Laxminarayan with carrying out a massive heist alongside two other members of the gang, played by Paresh Rawal and Upen Patel. But Laxminarayan quickly realizes that his fellow gang members are just as untrustworthy as the marks they're trying to rob.
As Laxminarayan tries to keep up with the constantly shifting loyalties and agendas of his colleagues, he also has to contend with a number of other obstacles. These include a series of disastrously botched crime attempts, a pair of love interests (played by Esha Deol and Sameera Reddy), and an overeager rookie cop (played by Tanisha Mukherjee) who is determined to bring the gang down.
One Two Three is a classic Bollywood comedy, full of slapstick humor, colorful characters, and energetic musical numbers. It's a fast-paced, frenetic film that never takes itself too seriously, but is always entertaining.
The film's cast is led by Tusshar Kapoor, who is best known for his work in the Golmaal series of films. Kapoor brings his trademark wide-eyed innocence and comedic timing to the role of Laxminarayan, making him a likable and sympathetic protagonist despite his criminal tendencies.
Suniel Shetty is a standout as Mukesh, the tough-as-nails leader of the criminal gang. His imposing physical presence and gruff delivery make him a formidable opponent for Laxminarayan and his cohorts. Paresh Rawal, meanwhile, steals many scenes as Babban, a bumbling but well-meaning thief who is constantly getting himself into trouble.
The rest of the cast is also solid, with Esha Deol and Sameera Reddy providing welcome romantic subplots, and Tanisha Mukherjee delivering some hilarious moments as the overeager police officer.
One Two Three is directed by Ashwani Dhir, who also wrote the screenplay. Dhir keeps the pace brisk and the humor light, and never allows the film to get bogged down in convoluted plot twists or unnecessarily complicated action sequences. The musical numbers are well-choreographed and catchy, and add to the film's overall sense of fun and joy.
Overall, One Two Three is a delightful Bollywood comedy that offers plenty of laughs, thrills, and romance. It's an ideal film for fans of the genre, and a great introduction for those who are new to Indian cinema.
