Old Dogs is a 2009 comedy film about two lifelong friends who find themselves caring for 7-year-old twins for two weeks. The main characters are Charlie (John Travolta) and Dan (Robin Williams), who run a successful sports marketing agency. The two are invited to a business meeting in Canada that could potentially secure their biggest deal, but their plans get derailed when they unexpectedly find themselves in custody of two young children.

The twins are the result of Dan's brief relationship with Vicki (Kelly Preston) who had kept this secret from Dan all these years. Vicki gets arrested and is unable to take care of the twins, and their mother is nowhere to be found. Charlie and Dan initially struggle to adjust to their new roles as guardians, but with the help of the loveable Bernie (Seth Green), they slowly begin to get the hang of it.

As the days pass, Charlie and Dan learn many life lessons from their time with the children. For Charlie, it's about learning how to become a responsible adult and overcoming his fear of commitment. For Dan, it's about learning to be a parent and the importance of family. They realise that they have spent so much time focusing on their careers that they have missed out on the joys of fatherhood. The children bring out their true, nurturing selves, and they begin to fall in love with the twins.

Throughout the movie, there are several comedic moments that keep the audience entertained. These moments range from Charlie and Dan's failed attempt at preparing a healthy meal for the children, to their disastrous time at a children's birthday party. Bernie, who is the duo's secretary, provides most of the laughs with his goofy antics and hilarious one-liners.

The movie also features a charismatic performance from the late Robin Williams, who plays Dan with his usual warmth and charm. John Travolta's Charlie is a slick agent who perfectly complements Williams' more subdued character. Seth Green, who plays Bernie, adds a touch of silliness to the film with his character's unpredictable behaviour.

The twins, Emilia and Zach, are portrayed by Ella Bleu Travolta (John Travolta's daughter) and Conner Rayburn, respectively. The two child actors give solid performances considering their age.

One of the most notable aspects of Old Dogs is the stellar supporting cast. Rita Wilson, Matt Dillon, and Justin Long all have small but memorable roles in the movie. Dillon plays a former business partner of Charlie and Dan's who is now their biggest competitor. Wilson plays a love interest for Dan, and Long plays a theme park employee who inadvertently causes chaos for the group during their visit.

The film's score features songs by popular artists such as the Beatles, the Who, and Queen, adding to the movie's charm. The movie also features a touching original song by John Ondrasik of Five for Fighting, "All I Know".

Old Dogs is a heartwarming and silly comedy that will leave audiences feeling uplifted. The film's message about the importance of family and the joys of parenthood is one that resonates with viewers of all ages. The movie is not without its flaws, but Robin Williams and John Travolta's performances make it a film worth watching. Overall, Old Dogs is an underrated gem that deserves a second glance.
