Oh! Heavenly Dog is a 1980 American comedy film directed by Joe Camp and starring Chevy Chase, Jane Seymour, and Benjean. The film follows a private investigator named Browning (played by Chevy Chase) who is murdered while on a case in England. Upon arriving in Heaven, he is given a choice by the heavenly gatekeeper (played by Robert Morley) between returning to Earth as a dog and solving his own murder, or staying in Heaven for eternity.

Browning chooses to return to Earth as a dog, and is given the name Max by his new owner, Jackie (played by Jane Seymour). Max quickly finds himself caught up in the same case Browning was working on before his death, which involves a wealthy couple and a missing diamond.

As Max, Browning uses his newfound ability to communicate with other dogs to gather information and solve the case. Along the way, he learns valuable lessons about loyalty, friendship, and the importance of doing the right thing.

The film's main focus is on Chevy Chase's character, whose charm and quick wit make him a joy to watch on screen. Jane Seymour also delivers a strong performance as Jackie, a loving and caring owner who forms a special bond with Max.

The real standout of the film, however, is Benjean, the talented canine actor who plays Max. Benjean's expressive face and impeccable timing make him a truly memorable character, and his ability to convey emotion without the use of words is truly remarkable.

The film's plot is simple but effective, and the pacing is tight and engaging. While some of the jokes may feel a bit dated by today's standards, the film's overall tone remains lighthearted and fun throughout.

One of the film's most memorable scenes involves Max's encounter with a group of stray dogs, which leads to a hilarious musical number set to the tune of "Singing in the Rain". It's a feel-good moment that showcases the film's playful sense of humor and Benjean's impressive talents.

Overall, Oh! Heavenly Dog is a charming and enjoyable comedy that is sure to delight audiences of all ages. Between its talented cast, adorable canine star, and uplifting message, it's a film that is truly a joy to watch from beginning to end.
