Nothing Personal is a 2009 drama film directed by Urszula Antoniak. The movie follows the story of a young woman named Anne (Lotte Verbeek) who decides to leave behind her life in Amsterdam and head to the west coast of Ireland to live a more solitary existence. She's a woman who is running away from her past, and this trip is supposed to help her find some peace and clarity in her life.

When she arrives in Ireland, Anne sets herself up in a small, remote cabin. The cabin is sparsely furnished, and she has no electricity or running water. She spends her days getting wood from the nearby forest, fishing in the nearby lake, and exploring the surrounding areas. Anne is content in her solitude, and she hopes to find some peace and clarity in her life.

One day, a man named Martin (Stephen Rea) arrives at Anne's cabin unannounced. Martin is a former photojournalist who has also left his life behind and has come to the same remote area to escape the world. Anne initially resists Martin's attempts to befriend her, but Martin is persistent, and eventually, Anne agrees to let him stay in a nearby shed.

As the two spend more and more time together, they begin to open up about their pasts. Anne reveals that she was previously in a relationship with a man who became increasingly controlling and abusive towards her, which led her to leave Amsterdam. Martin, on the other hand, reveals that he left his former life behind after experiencing a traumatic event while on assignment as a photojournalist.

As they continue to spend time together, Anne and Martin form a bond that helps to heal them both. However, as their relationship grows more intimate, they both begin to realize that they cannot continue to live in isolation forever. Anne and Martin must eventually face the outside world and confront their pasts if they have any hope of continuing to heal and move forward.

Overall, Nothing Personal is a slow-burning drama that explores themes of loneliness, trauma, and connection. The film's beautiful cinematography captures the stunning Irish landscape, and the performances from Verbeek and Rea are nuanced and emotional. The movie deals with heavy subject matter, but it does so in a way that is both thought-provoking and ultimately uplifting. Nothing Personal is a must-see for fans of indie dramas and character-driven stories.
