Notebook is a 2019 Indian romantic drama film that stars Zaheer Iqbal and Pranutan Bahl in lead roles. The movie marks the acting debut of both the actors who are children of two famous Bollywood celebrities, Salman Khan's childhood friend Iqbal Ratnasi and Mohnish Bahl. Directed by Nitin Kakkar, Notebook is a remake of the 2014 Thai film Teacher's Diary, which was also remade in the Philippines.

The story revolves around Kabir (Iqbal) and Firdaus (Bahl), two young teachers who find themselves falling in love while reading the diary left by the previous teacher. The diary contains not only emotional stories but also drawings of the previous teacher, which intrigues Kabir and Firdaus. As they read the diary and teach together, they begin to exchange written notes in the notebook at the end of each day as a way to communicate their thoughts and feelings. As they write to each other, their love and bond grow deeper, and they both start to realize their love for each other.

However, the romance between Kabir and Firdaus is not a typical one. Firdaus is the daughter of a local school principal who has never met her father and has only recently returned to Kashmir after studying in Mumbai. Kabir, on the other hand, is a young man who has been assigned to this remote school in Kashmir as part of his probationary period. He has no family, no friends, and no experience teaching children.

As the two teachers get closer to each other, their love story hits some serious roadblocks. Family dynamics, cultural differences, and personal history all threaten to pull them apart. At the same time, the beauty and serenity of the school and its surroundings provide the peace and solitude that allow them to seek and find what they are looking for, both within themselves and in each other.

The performance of both Zaheer and Pranutan is the highlight of the movie. Zaheer has done an excellent job in portraying a character that is very different from his real-life persona. His innocence, shyness, and vulnerability make him adorably cute and attractive. Pranutan, on the other hand, delivers a stunning performance as Firdaus. Her character goes through a range of emotions, from being reserved to warm, from being mature to immature, and she does it all with grace and ease. Mir Mohammed Mehroos, who plays the role of an autistic student, also deserves a special mention.

The music of the movie, composed by Vishal Mishra, is another noteworthy aspect. The songs "Nai Lagda" and "Main Taare" have become chartbusters, and the background score is soothing and goes perfectly with the mood of the film.

However, the movie has its flaws. Some of the scenes are predictable and drag on for too long. The climax of the movie is also disappointing, and the ending doesn't feel satisfying. Though the movie has a great concept, it could have been executed better.

Overall, Notebook is a simple and refreshing love story that deserves to be watched. The scenic beauty of Kashmir, the captivating performances of the actors, and the soulful music all make this movie worth watching. Though the movie has its flaws, it’s still an enjoyable watch for romance movie lovers.
