Nine from Little Rock is a 1964 documentary about the Little Rock Nine. The Little Rock Nine were nine Africian-American students who integrated the all-white Central High School in Little Rock Arkansas in 1957. They were escorted into the school under heavy security and taunts from the crowd. This was one of the first significant events in the Civil Rights struggles in the 1950s and ‘60s. The film focuses on Jefferson Thomas and seven fellow students seven years after they entered Central High. Jefferson Thomas narrates the film. The film was commissioned by George Stevens Jr. It won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Short in 1964.
