Nailbiter is a 2013 horror movie directed by Patrick Rea. The movie revolves around the story of a mother and her three daughters who are forced to seek shelter in a house located in Kansas because of a tornado warning. However, things take a horrific turn when it appears that the storm is not their biggest worry. The movie begins with a family traveling through rural Kansas when they are caught in a storm. After their car breaks down, they take shelter in a storm cellar. The storm cellar is already occupied by a woman called Janet (Erin McGrane) who is very unresponsive to their presence. The mother, Emma (Meg Saricks), and her daughters, Jillian (Emily Boresow), the eldest daughter who is a war veteran, and Haley (Sally Spurgeon) and Brittany (Joicie Appell), the younger daughters, have a harrowing experience in the cellar. With the storm outside raging on and the cellar being constantly flooded, the situation quickly becomes unbearable.

All of a sudden, the storm dies down and the family decides to venture outside to look for help. However, they find that the small town of Stillwater appears to be abandoned. The streets of the town are deserted, and there are no signs of life. The only thing they can hear is a weird sound coming from the sky. Unable to find any help, Emma and her daughters decide to take shelter in a house located in the outskirts of the town. While they wait for the storm to pass, they discover something sinister about the house.

The movie's atmosphere is heavy with tension, aided by the spooky sounds and the eerie visuals of the deserted town. The dark and eerie visuals add a lot to the sense of isolation and fear that the family feels. Even before the supernatural elements of the story are introduced, there is already an unnerving feeling lurking around in the background.

The movie's pacing is spot-on, with the story unfolding gradually, building up the tension until it reaches its climax. The suspenseful build-up is so intense that it keeps the audience sitting on the edge of their seats for the entire duration of the movie. The tension is maintained throughout the movie, and the audience is never allowed to relax.

One of the strongest points of the movie is the cast's performances. Erin McGrane shines in her portrayal of Janet, the mysterious woman who is hiding in the storm cellar. Janet is a broken character who has clearly been traumatized by something that happened in the past. She is unresponsive to Emma and her daughters, and her haunted look adds to the movie's overall sense of unease. Meg Saricks, who plays Emma, also delivers a solid performance as the concerned mother trying to protect her family. Her performance is heartfelt and helps to ground the movie amidst all the horror.

Emily Boresow is exceptionally good as Jillian, the eldest daughter, whose military background makes her a tough and fearless character. Her acting is natural and authentic, and she manages to convey the character's vulnerability and strength convincingly. Sally Spurgeon and Joicie Appell also do a great job as Haley and Brittany respectively, the younger daughters who are more vulnerable and scared than their older sister.

Overall, Nailbiter is a well-executed horror movie with an engaging plot and solid acting performances. It is a compelling watch for fans of the genre who enjoy suspenseful and chilling stories. The movie's story is both engaging and suspenseful and will keep viewers on the edge of their seats. All in all, Nailbiter is a refreshing and engaging take on the horror genre that is definitely worth watching.

Nailbiter is a 2013 horror movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 22 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 4.2.
