Hugh Grant stars as Alex Fletcher, a washed-up 80s pop star who is desperately trying to revive his career. He gets a chance to do just that when a famous singer asks him to write a song for her. The only problem is, Alex doesn't know how to write lyrics. Enter Drew Barrymore as Sophie Fisher, a quirky and clumsy girl who waters Alex's plants and has a talent for writing. Alex enlists Sophie's help, and together they start writing the song. Along the way, they discover that they have great chemistry and begin to fall for each other.
However, their budding romance is threatened by Alex's commitment issues and Sophie's past relationship troubles. Meanwhile, Alex must deal with the pressure of writing a hit song and the constant demands of the music industry.
As Alex and Sophie work on the song, they begin to uncover their own feelings about love and relationships. They also come to realize that sometimes, the best things happen unexpectedly.
Scott Porter plays Sophie's ex-boyfriend who is still in love with her and tries to win her back throughout the movie.
Filled with catchy pop tunes and a charming romance, Music and Lyrics is a feel-good movie that will have you tapping your toes and rooting for the underdog.
