Mum & Dad is a horror movie from 2008 that revolves around a young woman named Lena, who works as a flight attendant at the airport in London. Lena is forced to stay in the city overnight after her shift and decides to catch some sleep in the staff locker room. However, when she wakes up, she realizes she is locked in a strange room with a group of people who are being held against their will.
Lena soon discovers that she is trapped in the home of a sadistic couple who have taken her and the others captive. Mum and Dad, the captors, force their prisoners to become part of their gruesome family and carry out their twisted desires. Lena is subject to a series of horrific torture, abuse and psychological manipulation, all while the rest of the "family" goes about their daily lives as if everything is normal.
Perry Benson and Dido Miles play the roles of Mum and Dad, respectively, with terrifyingly convincing performances. Benson captures the demented and abusive nature of his character with ease, while Miles plays a quiet and reserved character who is equally as frightening. Olga Fedori plays Lena with an incredible amount of strength and resilience, as she tries to survive the ordeal and escape.
The film is shot in a unique way, using hand-held cameras and dim lighting to capture the sense of claustrophobia and confinement that Lena and the other prisoners experience. There are also a number of disturbing scenes that are only hinted at, leaving it up to the audience's imagination to fully comprehend the gruesome nature of what is happening.
Overall, Mum & Dad is a chilling and intense horror film that will leave you on the edge of your seat. The performances are outstanding and the story is well-written, with unexpected twists and turns that keep you guessing until the very end. It is not a film for the faint of heart, but definitely worth a watch for horror fans who love a good scare.
