Mr. Robinson Crusoe is a 1932 adventure-comedy film, directed by A. Edward Sutherland and starring Douglas Fairbanks, William Farnum, and Earle Browne. The film is a loose adaptation of the classic novel Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe, with a few modern touches. Fairbanks plays Steve Drexel, a wealthy American who is bored with his privileged life and decides to leave it all behind to embark on a solo adventure on a deserted island in the South Pacific. He names the island "Artikam" and quickly sets about building himself a home and creating a comfortable life for himself. However, he soon realizes that survival on the island is not as easy as he initially thought.

As the days on the island pass, Steve begins to develop his survival skills, building tools and learning how to fish and hunt for food. He also discovers an abandoned hut on the other side of the island, which had once been inhabited by a cannibal tribe that had been wiped out by a disease. Steve manages to salvage some supplies from the hut, including a phonograph.

The film takes a comedic turn when Steve uses the phonograph to listen to popular American songs and dance alone on the beach, creating imaginary female partners out of coconuts. He even starts a game of golf using coconuts as his ball and palm fronds as his club. However, things take a more serious turn when a group of real cannibals arrive on the island, with Steve as their intended meal. Steve must use all his newfound skills to defend himself and survive the encounter.

Throughout the film, Steve's character grows and develops, as he learns to cope with the challenges of island life and comes to appreciate the simple pleasures that come with living off the land. At one point in the film, he even begins to question his former life of privilege, wondering whether this new life on the island might be a more fulfilling way to live.

The film features some impressive sets and special effects for its time, with Fairbanks performing some daring stunts and action scenes. The comedic moments are also well-done and add an enjoyable element to the film.

Overall, Mr. Robinson Crusoe is a fun adventure film that mixes action, comedy, and a touch of romance. It may not be a faithful adaptation of the classic novel, but it stands on its own as an entertaining and well-made film from the early days of Hollywood.

Mr. Robinson Crusoe is a 1932 adventure movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 16 minutes. It has received moderate reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 5.5.
