Moxie is a 2021 American comedy-drama film directed by Amy Poehler and based on a novel of the same name by Jennifer Mathieu. The movie stars Hadley Robinson as Vivian, a shy and introverted teenager who becomes inspired by her mother's rebellious past and decides to challenge the toxic culture in her high school. The story takes place in a suburban high school where the students' social hierarchy is dominated by a group of popular and privileged boys called the "jocks". Vivian, who is a junior, feels invisible and powerless, as she witnesses the constant harassment and discrimination that the "jocks" impose on the other students, especially the girls.

One day, the arrival of a new girl, Lucy (played by Alycia Pascual-Pena), brings a spark of rebellion into Vivian's life. Lucy is confident, outspoken, and unapologetically feminist, which inspires Vivian to question the status quo and fight for change.

While rummaging through her mother's old things, Vivian finds a zine called "Moxie" that her mother had created in her youth as a way to protest against the sexism and bullying she had experienced in her own high school. Inspired by the zine, Vivian decides to create her own version of "Moxie" and distribute it anonymously at her school, hoping to spark a revolution against the toxic masculinity and sexist behavior that is rampant in the school.

As Vivian's campaign gains momentum, she discovers that she is not alone in her frustration and desire for change. She forms an unlikely alliance with a diverse group of girls, including Lucy, who share her passion for social justice and are willing to challenge the status quo.

Lauren Tsai plays Claudia, Vivian's best friend who is initially hesitant to join the "Moxie" movement but eventually becomes a key player in the fight for equality. The movie also features a standout performance by Nico Hiraga, who plays Seth, a "jock" who defies the expectations of his peers by supporting Vivian's cause.

Through the struggles and triumphs of these characters, Moxie explores themes of intersectional feminism, female empowerment, and the power of youth activism. The movie is both heartfelt and entertaining, striking a balance between humor and drama as it takes on serious issues in a relatable and accessible way.

Overall, Moxie is a must-see movie for anyone who cares about social justice and wants to feel inspired by the power of young people to effect change. With its strong performances, engaging storyline, and timely message, Moxie is a movie that will stay with you long after the credits roll.
