In the fourth installment of the Monster High franchise, the teenage children of famous monsters attend a school in a fictional town called New Salem. In this movie, the focus is on singing sensations and werecat lovers, Catty Noir and her boyfriend, Play. Catty is given the opportunity of a lifetime when she is invited to perform in Boo York City. Boo York is a highly advanced city â seemingly out of this world. Catty is hesitant to accept the invitation to perform, however, because it comes with a stipulation that Play is not welcome in the big apple. Unwilling to leave play behind, Catty enlists the help of her friends, Cleo and Deuce, to help her sneak Play into the city.
Once they arrive in Boo York City, the gang meets Luna Mothews, the daughter of the Mothman, a character in American folklore. Luna is a tour guide for a city that is hosting a gala, which will reveal the Ghouls' supernatural identities to the human world. The leaders of the city, The Comet Committee, have planned a 1000th comet commemorative party to celebrate the event. The new friends join forces in an effort to prevent this from happening.
As they explore Boo York City, the gang discovers the haunting history of the Comet's Curse â a curse that plagues the city and its inhabitants. They also figure out that this upcoming comet could cause a catastrophic incident, exposing the identity of the monsters to the humans. The group then sets out on a mission to uncover the truth about the curse while also stopping the gala event.
Throughout the movie, music is featured heavily, with the characters singing their hearts out and dancing like no one's watching. From catchy tunes like "Fright Song" and "Boo York, Boo York" to heart-wrenching ballads like "City Ghouls", the songs are catchy, and the voice actors deliver impressive musical performances.
The animation in "Monster High: Boo York, Boo York" is stunning, with a colorful and eye-catching cityscape. The monsters are designed with care, and their fashion sense is on point, with a mix of classic and trendy styles. One notable character is Ari Hauntington, the daughter of a Ghost Opera's phantom, who is not only visually striking but also has a great singing voice.
Overall, "Monster High: Boo York, Boo York" is a fun, energetic, and visually impressive movie that will appeal to both kids and adults. It teaches the valuable lesson of acceptance while also encouraging self-expression and creativity.
