Mo' Money is a 1992 American crime comedy film directed by Peter MacDonald and produced by Walter Coblenz, which follows the story of a young con artist, Johnny Stewart aka "Johnny Can I Help You?" (played by Damon Wayans), who decides to change his life when he falls in love with a beautiful but broke woman named Amber Evans (played by Stacey Dash).
Johnny and his younger brother Seymour (played by Marlon Wayans) work as valet attendants at a fancy hotel in Chicago, but they're also master pickpockets who rob the guests' cars before parking them. One day, Johnny steals a car belonging to a wealthy businessman named Donald Gray (played by Joe Santos), and that's when he meets Amber, who works as a receptionist at Gray's credit card company.
Johnny is smitten with Amber immediately and decides to pursue her, but she's not interested in him because of his criminal past. So he pretends to be a successful businessman and uses his pickpocketing skills to steal money from Gray's company and impress Amber with his wealth. Meanwhile, Johnny's former partner-in-crime, Lira (played by Carmen Ejogo), is released from prison and wants Johnny to help her with a new job.
As Johnny tries to balance his new life with Amber and his old life of crime with Lira, he gets pulled into a dangerous plot involving Gray's son, who wants to take over the family business and is willing to do whatever it takes to get what he wants.
Mo' Money is a mix of comedy, romance, and crime with a strong focus on the characters' relationships. Damon Wayans delivers a charming and charismatic performance as Johnny, a character that audiences can't help but root for despite his shady past. Stacey Dash plays Amber with grace and elegance, giving the character depth beyond just being a love interest. Marlon Wayans provides comedic relief as Johnny's brother, Seymour, who dreams of becoming a famous artist.
The film's plot is engaging and unpredictable, keeping audiences on the edge of their seats as Johnny and his partners-in-crime find themselves in increasingly dangerous situations. However, the film's comedy sometimes takes away from the gravity of the story, making it difficult to take some of the scenes seriously.
Mo' Money's soundtrack, featuring songs by Boyz II Men, Luther Vandross, and Janet Jackson, adds to the film's charm and is still remembered by audiences to this day. The film's setting in Chicago is also well-utilized, with the city's skyline and architecture providing a beautiful backdrop to the film's action.
Overall, Mo' Money is an entertaining film that combines comedy, romance, and crime into an engaging story. The performances by Damon Wayans and Stacey Dash, along with the film's unpredictable plot and beautiful setting, make for a fun and memorable viewing experience.
