Missing Pieces is a 2000 mystery-thriller movie directed by Carl Schenkel, starring the renowned actor James Coburn alongside Lisa Zane and Paul Kersey. The plot revolves around the disappearance of a wealthy businessman's wife, during a family gathering. The movie kicks off with a patriarch, Harley Duneane (James Coburn), trying to gather his broken family together once again. The reason for the gathering is to celebrate the wedding anniversary of Harley and his wife Julie (Rebecca Gray), whom he adores the most. However, the reunion takes a tragic turn as Julie goes missing in the middle of the celebration, leaving everyone in a state of shock and despair.

Harley calls in the police, and an investigation is launched immediately, with the whole family coming under scrutiny. The family members are: Sam (Paul Kersey) - the ambitious son trying to prove his worth to his father; Sarah (Lisa Zane) - Sam's wife and the black sheep of the family; Michael (Markus Flanagan) - the eldest son who has been estranged from the family for years; Alicia (Kiersten Warren) - Michael's girlfriend who doesn't get along with anyone in the family; and Amy (Lauren Sinclair) - the youngest member of the family.

As the investigation progresses, deep dark secrets and lies start to surface, and everyone in the family seems to have a motive for Julie's disappearance. To make matters worse, a ransom note is found, and the investigation turns into a race against time to save Julie's life.

The family dynamics are portrayed very well, with each member having their own issues and complexities. James Coburn, in particular, delivers a fantastic performance as Harley Duneane, the troubled patriarch trying his best to hold the family together.

The movie is shot in a dark and moody setting, adding to the overall atmosphere of mystery and intrigue. The pacing is well handled, with enough twists and turns to keep the audience engaged. The movie also has a strong emotional core, with the themes of family, love, and loyalty explored in depth.

One of the standout aspects of the movie is its ending. Without giving away any spoilers, it is safe to say that it is a satisfying and unexpected conclusion that ties up all the loose ends and delivers a satisfying payoff.

Overall, Missing Pieces is a well-crafted mystery-thriller that will keep the audience guessing until the very end. The movie's strong performances, atmospheric setting, and tight pacing make it a must-watch for fans of the genre.
