Midnight, also known as Call It Murder, is a classic film-noir from 1934, directed by Chester Erskine, starring the legendary Hollywood actor Humphrey Bogart alongside Sidney Fox and O.P. Heggie. The movie follows a young woman named Eve, played by Sidney Fox, who is in a desperate situation. She is down on her luck, out of money and has been kicked out of her apartment. Left with no options and with nowhere to go, she wanders aimlessly around the streets of New York City.

As she is walking, Eve stumbles upon a building where a group of people is in the middle of a seance. Intrigued, she decides to join and is quickly welcomed into the group. However, things take a dark turn when the wealthy and influential Madame Leona, played by Blanche Friderici, is mysteriously killed during the seance.

The group is in disarray, unsure of what to do. It is at this moment that Bogart's character, Gar Boni, appears on the scene. Gar is a shady undercover detective tasked with getting to the bottom of the murder case. He is suspicious of everyone in the group and sets out to interrogate them all, one by one.

As he delves deeper into the investigation, secrets are unraveled, and the truth behind the Madame Leona's death surfaces. It is a race against time as Gar tries to piece together the clues, and Eve is caught up in the middle of the tension.

The acting is top-notch, with Bogart delivering a standout performance in his role as the hard-boiled detective. Sidney Fox shines as the helpless young woman caught up in the events beyond her control, and O.P Heggie's portrayal of Professor Timmony adds a layer of mystery to the story.

The film's cinematography is impressive, with moody, atmospheric shots that create a tense and ominous atmosphere. The black and white color palette effectively captures the noir genre's essence and enhances the film's mysterious ambiance.

Overall, Midnight is a gripping, fast-paced thriller that keeps audiences on the edge of their seats. The storyline is well-crafted, and the performances are excellent, making for an unforgettable cinematic experience.
