Set in a post-apocalyptic future, Metalstorm: The Destruction of Jared-Syn tells the story of a lone bounty hunter named Dogen (Jeffrey Byron) who sets out to take down the evil Jared-Syn (Michael Preston), a warlord who controls the desolate wasteland with his army of cyborgs. As Dogen journeys through the barren land, he meets a young woman named Dhyana (Kelly Preston) who is searching for her father, a scientist who has gone missing. Together, they team up to track down Jared-Syn and put an end to his reign of terror.
But the journey is perilous, as they must navigate treacherous terrain and battle ferocious creatures. Along the way, they encounter a colorful cast of characters, including a group of outcasts who live in an underground city and a wise old man who provides them with valuable information.
The pair eventually reaches Jared-Syn's lair, a fortress protected by deadly traps and cyborg warriors. With the help of a rival bounty hunter named Rhodes (Tim Thomerson), they launch a final assault on the fortress in a bid to stop Jared-Syn once and for all.
The film is a classic example of 80s science fiction, with its neon-lit landscapes and over-the-top action sequences. The visual effects, while dated by today's standards, still hold up surprisingly well and add to the film's overall sense of otherworldly atmosphere.
Jeffrey Byron delivers a solid performance as the stoic hero, while Michael Preston is suitably menacing as the villainous Jared-Syn. Kelly Preston gives her character a sense of vulnerability and determination that makes her a perfect match for Dogen.
Meanwhile, Tim Thomerson provides some much-needed comic relief as the wisecracking Rhodes, who is always ready with a quip or a sarcastic remark.
Overall, Metalstorm: The Destruction of Jared-Syn is a fun, action-packed romp that will appeal to fans of classic sci-fi. It may not be a masterpiece, but it's an entertaining ride that's worth taking.
