Mera Saaya is a 1966 Bollywood psychological thriller directed by Raj Khosla. The film stars Sunil Dutt, Sadhana Shivdasani and Jagdish Sethi in lead roles. The story revolves around Dr. Sanjay Verma (Sunil Dutt), a successful lawyer who is married to Nisha (Sadhana Shivdasani). One day, Sanjay and Nisha go on a picnic and while returning, their car meets with an accident, resulting in Nisha's death. Sanjay is heartbroken and devastated by Nisha's sudden demise. After her funeral, Sanjay returns to work but is unable to concentrate on anything due to his grief.

One day, Sanjay visits a cemetery and is shocked to see a woman who is the exact replica of his deceased wife, Nisha. He is initially convinced that it is Nisha but later realizes that she is someone else. The woman, named Madhu (Sadhana Shivdasani in a double role), is a poor and innocent girl who has no connection with Nisha. Sanjay becomes obsessed with Madhu and starts seeing Nisha's reflection in her. He convinces himself that Nisha has come back to him in the form of Madhu.

Sanjay starts seeing Madhu regularly and even hires her as his secretary. He introduces her to his family and friends as Nisha. Everyone is shocked by Sanjay's behavior, but he doesn't pay attention to anyone's concerns. Meanwhile, Madhu develops feelings for Sanjay but he continues to see her as Nisha.

The plot thickens when Sanjay is accused of murdering his colleague, Dr. Saxena (Jagdish Sethi). The police find a letter in Sanjay's office, which suggests that he had a motive to kill Saxena. Sanjay is arrested and imprisoned. Madhu, who is still in love with Sanjay, decides to defend him in court. She investigates the case and tries to prove Sanjay's innocence. Along the way, she discovers some shocking truths about Sanjay and his relationship with Nisha.

Mera Saaya is a masterpiece in the thriller genre. The film is notable for its gripping storyline, melodious soundtrack, and remarkable performances by the lead actors. Sunil Dutt is outstanding as the bereaved husband who sees his dead wife's reflection in another woman. Sadhana Shivdasani deserves applause for her double role as Nisha and Madhu. She effortlessly portrays two distinct characters with conviction. Jagdish Sethi, who plays the supporting role of Dr. Saxena, also delivers an impressive performance.

The film's soundtrack, composed by Madan Mohan, is a classic. The songs "Nainon Mein Badra Chhaye" and "Jhumka Gira Re" are timeless melodies that are still popular today. The film's background score, by the legendary duo Kalyanji-Anandji, complements the tense moments of the film perfectly.

The cinematography by V. K. Murthy is top-notch. The film is beautifully shot, with some scenes that are breathtakingly haunting. The iconic shot of Sadhana standing in the rain, with her face covered by a wet saree, is an example of Murthy's brilliance.

Overall, Mera Saaya is a must-watch for anyone who loves thriller films. The film takes the viewers on an emotional rollercoaster ride, with its twists and turns. The ending of the film is unforgettable and leaves a lasting impact on the viewers' minds. Mera Saaya is a classic that has stood the test of time and should not be missed.
