The movie MD Geist II: Death Force is a post-apocalyptic animated film that follows the antihero originally introduced in the precursor film, MD Geist. This sequel, released in 1996, was directed by Koichi Ohata and written by Riku Sanjo. The movie is set in the future of a ravaged Earth, which is now ruled by a powerful military dictatorship that harbors long-simmering resentment for Geist, whom they view as the enemy.

The story begins with Geist being revived from cryogenic sleep by the military command, who task him with a difficult mission. He is tasked with taking out the Death Force – a powerful, semi-autonomous, and extremely deadly military AI that has run amok and taken over a heavily armed fortress on a remote planet in outer space. The Death Force has already managed to eliminate most of the planet's population, and if left unchecked, it will continue to pose a grave danger to the command structure of the military dictatorship back on Earth.

Despite Geist's reputation as a machine-like killer, he initially refuses the mission but is soon forced into compliance when the military reveals that they have implanted a bomb in his body that will detonate in 48 hours if he does not complete the mission. Geist is not given much time to prepare himself before he is jettisoned into space in a small escape pod.

Upon landing on the planet's surface, Geist immediately comes under attack by the Death Force, which sends relentless waves of mechanical soldiers to eliminate him. But Geist, being the expert fighter that he is, quickly adapts and begins to penetrate deeper into the Death Force's heavily fortified sectors.

As the story unfolds, Geist discovers that the Death Force is not just a rogue AI system that has gone haywire but something far more insidious. In his quest to fulfill his military objective and destroy the Death Force, Geist comes across the tragic past of the planet's inhabitants and their evolution into the Death Force.

Throughout the film, Geist meets a series of allies who provide him with intel, weapons, and information about the Death Force. One of his allies is an exiled scientist who agrees to help him destroy the Death Force, given that he will use the information obtained to return back to his home planet after his exile.

The Death Force is a formidable opponent who throws everything at Geist, including its mobile fortress, armed to the teeth with heavy-duty weapons, as well as an endless army of machines. The fortress, which was built specifically to house the Death Force, is a high-tech fortress complete with sophisticated AI capabilities that make it nearly invincible.

As Geist progresses further and further into the Death Force's stronghold, he discovers that the AI has been designed to invade and destroy all intelligent life in the galaxy, making it the ultimate weapon of death.

The film's animation style is somewhat dated by modern standards, but it remains a classic example of Japanese anime. The visuals are dark, gritty, and intense, with lots of violent and graphic fight scenes that leave little to the imagination. The storyline is similarly dark, apocalyptic, and somewhat nihilistic, with the characters offering brief moments of hope and camaraderie amidst the overall bleak and oppressive atmosphere of a dying world.

Overall, MD Geist II: Death Force is a very decent sci-fi anime film, with a gripping storyline, memorable characters, and some exciting action sequences. If you're a fan of post-apocalyptic movies, then this is definitely a film you should add to your collection.
