Maya Bazaar is a 1995 Telugu fantasy comedy film directed by Dasari Narayana Rao. The movie stars Akkineni Nageshwara Rao, Aamani, Brahmanandam, and others in prominent roles. Maya Bazaar is a remake of the 1957 film of the same name and is considered as a classic film in Telugu cinema. The story of the film revolves around Balarama (Akkineni Nageshwara Rao) and Suguna (Aamani), who meet each other and fall in love. However, Balaramaâs mother (Rohini Hattangadi) disapproves of their relationship and arranges his marriage with Padmavathi (Ramya Krishna). In the meantime, Lord Krishna (S.V. Ranga Rao) appears in a dream to Balarama and tells him that he has to get married in order to fulfill his destiny.
As the story progresses, we learn that Balaramaâs destiny is to marry a girl with a specific birthmark on her thigh, which is believed to be the mark of goddess Lakshmi. Balarama, therefore, sets out to find the mysterious girl. Meanwhile, Padmavathi and her father (Tanikella Bharani) have their own agendas and make several attempts to sabotage Balaramaâs mission.
The rest of the movie is filled with plenty of twists and turns, as Balarama and Suguna try to overcome the obstacles and fulfill their destinies.
Maya Bazaar 1995 is a well-made film with excellent performances from the entire cast. Akkineni Nageshwara Rao is fantastic in his role as Balarama, and Aamani delivers a nuanced performance as Suguna. S.V. Ranga Rao, who played the iconic role of Lord Krishna in the original film, also returns to play the same role in this remake, and his performance is as powerful and impactful as ever.
The film also features some memorable comic scenes between Brahmanandam and Kota Srinivasa Rao, who are both excellent in their roles as two scheming businessmen. The filmâs climax is a real treat for the audience, with plenty of stunning visual effects and action sequences. The music by Madhavapeddi Suresh is also noteworthy, with several catchy tunes that have stood the test of time.
