Maqsad is a Bollywood movie released in 1984 directed by K. Raghavendra Rao, and starring the legendary actor Rajesh Khanna, Jeetendra, and Jaya Prada. The movie follows the story of Ravi (Rajesh Khanna), who is an educated and unemployed young man who lives with his brother, sister-in-law, and their two children. As the family is struggling to make ends meet, Ravi stays idle with no job prospects in sight. Ravi's old friend, Laxmi (Jaya Prada), returns from the city, where she has made a name for herself. She encourages Ravi to move to the city and chase his dreams, but he is resistant at first.

Later, Ravi's brother meets with an accident, and their financial condition worsens. Ravi decides to leave to the city to earn some money. Upon arriving in the city, Ravi meets Guru (Jeetendra), who is also responsible for rescuing him from a bunch of goons. Guru takes Ravi under his wing and teaches him the art of burglary.

They then start robbing houses and end up stealing from a rich businessman, Mr. Ramnath. While escaping from Ramnath's mansion, he sees his childhood friend, Laxmi, inside the house. Laxmi is working as a governess in that house, and is unaware of Ravi's illegal activities.

Eventually, Ravi and Laxmi reunite and discover their feelings for each other. Things become complicated as Ravi becomes a criminal, which creates a conflict within him. He decides to change his ways for Laxmi, and starts working as a clerk in a company with no relation to criminal activities. However, their happy life is short-lived as Laxmi's employer fired her, who was falsely accused by Ramnath due to her affair with Ravi.

Ravi, along with Guru, decides to take revenge against Ramnath, which leads to an action-packed climax in the movie.

Maqsad explores the theme of redemption and the power of love. It shows how love can change people for the better and is one of the many reasons the movie has gained cult status over the years. The film is a great showcase of the talents of the three lead actors, Rajesh Khanna, Jeetendra, and Jaya Prada. Throughout the movie, the actors showcase their range and depth, making the audience empathize with their characters.

The movie's soundtrack is also a high point, with music by Bappi Lahiri and lyrics penned down by Anand Bakshi. The songs "Gori Hai Kalaiyan" and "Dariya Mein Jahaz Chale" went on to become chartbusters and are still enjoyed by audiences today.

In conclusion, Maqsad is a classic Hindi movie that is still relevant today. Its themes of longing, power, and redemption are timeless and relatable to people worldwide. It is a perfect blend of action, drama, romance, and music that appeals to a variety of viewers.

Maqsad is a 1984 action movie with a runtime of 2 hours and 46 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 4.5.
