Mandela (1996) is a documentary that looks at the life of the late Nelson Mandela (July 18, 1918-December 5, 2013). The is the official film biography of the world-renowned leader who was the first democratically elected president in post-apartheid South Africa. The film looks at Mandela's childhood, education, family, work against apartheid and time spent in Robben Island prison. This documentary of the late political leader was pulled together from 200 hours of original footage and 100 hours of archival footage. The finished result was this 118 minute long film.
Interviews with former South African president F.W. de Klerk, Nelson Mandela, Mandela's ex-wife Winnie Mandela and the Afrikaner Weerstandsbeweging Party's Eugene Terre'Blanche are part of this documentary, which shows Mandela as freedom fighter and father of a new post-apartheid nation.
