




Manam Kothi Paravai is a Tamil romantic comedy film released on February 17, 2012. The movie is directed by Thulladha Manamum Thullum-fame Ezhil and produced by N. Subash Chandrabose and Ronnie Screwvala. The movie stars Sivakarthikeyan, Athmeeya Rajan, and Chaams in lead roles. The story revolves around Kannan (Sivakarthikeyan) who is a jobless young lad and is a great admirer of pigeons. He spends most of his time flying pigeons in the local pigeon club. One day, he meets a beautiful girl named Revathy (Athmeeya Rajan), and they both fall in love with each other. However, Kannan's father (Ilavarasu) disapproves of his son's love and wants him to marry a wealthy and educated girl named Divya (Hemalatha).
Kannan's father arranges a meeting between Kannan and Divya, but Kannan rejects her proposal. Meanwhile, Kannan's mother (Sri Ranjani) convinces her husband and gets him to visit Revathy's house to talk about their marriage. But, during the visit, Kannan's father learns that Revathyâs father is a hawker selling detergent powders.
Kannan's father insults Revathy's father and breaks off the relationship, which hurts Kannan and Revathy deeply. Revathy, who is upset with Kannan's father's behavior, decides to stay away from Kannan, and he feels empty without her. Kannan realizes his mistake and tries to reconcile with her, but she still refuses to talk to him.
Later, Kannan finds out that Revathy's father was once a well-known wrestler and decides to train him for a wrestling competition. Kannan trains Revathy's father, and he wins the competition, which brings Revathy and Kannan closer.
On Revathy's birthday, Kannan proposes to her in front of her family and friends, and she accepts his proposal. Meanwhile, Divya's father (Ponnambalam) finds out that Kannan has proposed to Revathy and decides to take revenge on Kannan's family by getting his daughter married to Kannan's younger brother (Vinodhini).
The rest of the story follows how Kannan and his family deal with Divya's father and how they get back Revathy's family's respect and love.
