Leo is a businessman who lives in New York with his wife Ellen, who is a doctor, and his daughter, who is very precocious. Also a part of their lives is their Filipino maid, who has been the primary force in raising their daughter, since Leo and Ellen are rarely around. Leo goes on a business trip to Thailand, and he begins to re-evaluate his life. Meanwhile, the maid bonds more with Ellen, and her family back home in the Philippines tries to cope with her absence. Many lives may be about to undergo a significant change in the future.
