Malice is a 1993 American thriller movie directed by Harold Becker and written by Aaron Sorkin and Scott Frank. The movie stars Alec Baldwin, Nicole Kidman, and Bill Pullman. It follows the story of a surgeon named Dr. Jed Hill (played by Alec Baldwin), who becomes involved in a string of mysterious deaths at a local hospital. At the beginning of the movie, Dr. Hill (Baldwin) arrives in a small town to take a job as a surgeon at the local hospital. He is introduced to the hospital's chief of staff, Dr. Harvey Lexington (played by Bill Pullman), who seems to be a kind and trustworthy colleague. Dr. Hill also rents a room in the home of a local couple, Tracy and Andy (played by Nicole Kidman and Peter Gallagher).

Soon after Dr. Hill's arrival, a young woman named Cynthia (played by Anne Bancroft) is rushed to the hospital with abdominal pain. Dr. Hill performs surgery on her, but she dies on the operating table. The autopsy reveals that Cynthia was pregnant and died of an overdose of potassium chloride, a drug that causes heart failure.

Another patient in the hospital, a middle-aged man named Tanya (played by Gwyneth Paltrow), dies after a similar surgery. Dr. Hill becomes suspicious and starts to investigate the deaths. He discovers that Dr. Lexington has been performing unnecessary surgeries on patients and then administering the potassium chloride to them to cover up his mistakes.

Meanwhile, Tracy (Kidman) reveals to Dr. Hill that she was once married to a man who raped and impregnated her. She had an abortion, but the procedure left her unable to have children. Dr. Hill sympathizes with her and offers to help her conceive a child through artificial insemination.

As the investigation into the hospital's practices continues, Dr. Hill becomes a suspect in the murders. He is also accused of raping Tracy and impregnating her. The investigation is complicated by Dr. Hill's complicated personal life, including his ex-wife and the revelation of his own health issues.

The movie is full of twists and turns as the true nature of the hospital and its staff is revealed. The story highlights the dangers of blindly trusting authority figures and the importance of investigating suspicious behavior.

Alec Baldwin delivers a strong performance as the conflicted Dr. Hill, while Nicole Kidman shines as Tracy, the troubled woman seeking comfort and stability. Bill Pullman is also effective in his role as the seemingly benevolent doctor who is actually hiding a dark secret.

Overall, Malice is a thrilling and engaging movie that keeps you on the edge of your seat until the very end.
