Main Aisa Hi Hoon is a Bollywood drama film that was released in 2005. The movie stars Ajay Devgn, Sushmita Sen, and Esha Deol in the lead roles. Directed by Harry Baweja, the story revolves around a young man named Neel (played by Ajay Devgn) who is mentally challenged but has an extraordinary musical talent. The movie starts with Neel living with his doting mother and elder brother. They live in a small town in India, and Neel's mother takes great care of him as he has a mental disability. Neel is childlike and innocent in his behavior and often gets into trouble because of his childish antics. Despite his disability, he has a keen interest in music and has a natural talent for it, which his mother encourages by getting him music lessons from a teacher in town.
However, things take a turn for the worse when Neel's mother passes away, leaving him and his brother to fend for themselves. Neel's brother, who is a successful businessman, decides to send him to an institution, as he finds it challenging to manage both his business and Neel's care. Neel is taken to a mental asylum, where he gets mistreated and has to suffer at the hands of the staff.
One day, Neel meets Meera (played by Sushmita Sen), who works as a volunteer at the asylum. She and Neel form a close bond, and she sees his potential and his musical talent. Meera takes it upon herself to get Neel out of the asylum and bring him back to his hometown. She approaches Neel's brother for help, but he is not willing to take responsibility for Neel again.
Meera takes Neel under her care and looks after him as if he were her own son. She discovers that Neel has a natural talent for music, and she enrolls him in a music school to hone his skills. However, Neel's disability makes it difficult for him to manage the class, and he often loses focus, leading to tensions between him and his teacher.
The story takes an interesting turn when Neel's biological father (played by Anupam Kher) comes into the picture. He had left Neel and his mother when Neel was a child and had never been in touch since then. He is now a wealthy businessman who is willing to take Neel under his care, but Neel's mother had not allowed him to do so.
Neel struggles to come to terms with the fact that he has a father who had abandoned him and is now trying to make amends. Meera, who has grown to love Neel as her own, tries to protect him from his father's greed and manipulations. Neel's father is more interested in using Neel's musical talent to promote his business rather than genuinely caring for him.
The movie's climax revolves around Neel's struggle to find a place where he belongs, and the people who genuinely care about him. The story also touches upon the issues of mental disability and how people with these conditions are often treated in society.
Overall, Main Aisa Hi Hoon is an emotional and heartwarming film that showcases the struggles of a mentally challenged young man and the people who love and care for him. The acting performances are excellent, particularly by Ajay Devgn, who does a commendable job portraying the innocent and vulnerable character of Neel. The music by Himesh Reshammiya is another highlight of the movie and adds to the emotional depth of the story.
