Mahi NRI is a 2017 Indian-Punjabi comedy-drama film directed by Gaurav Bavdankar and produced by Nakul Sahdev. It stars Harrdy Sandhu, Poppy Jabbal, and Rameet Kaur in lead roles with Gurpreet Ghuggi, BN Sharma, Anjum Batra, Ranjan Sehgal, and Navniit Nisshan playing supporting roles. When Mahi's father passes away suddenly, Mahi is forced to return to India to take care of his father's business. Once in India, he meets a young woman named Aakanksha (Poppy Jabbal) who is also from the UK. Aakanksha has a troubled past and is trying to start a new life in India. The two of them become good friends and Mahi helps her to overcome her past.

Mahi also meets his childhood friend Simran (Rameet Kaur) who is now married to a wealthy man. Despite being married, Simran has feelings for Mahi which she tries to hide. Mahi, on the other hand, still harbors feelings for Simran but decides to respect her decision to stay with her husband.

As Mahi tries to adjust to life in India and take care of his father's business, he realizes that his father's business is not doing well. He also starts to experience the culture shock of being in India and faces certain challenges due to his Western upbringing. However, with the help of his friends and family, Mahi is able to overcome these challenges and decides to stay in India to make a difference.

The movie touches on themes of family, culture shock, and following one's dreams.
