Loners is a 2019 comedy movie directed by Eryc Tramonn and written by Neil McGowan. The movie follows Kevin (Brian Letscher) and Bruce (Tyson Turrou), two roommates who live in Los Angeles and work at a company that sells used medical equipment. Kevin, who is the more reserved and responsible of the two, has a crush on their coworker Veronica (Stephanie Jane Markham), while Bruce, an eccentric and impulsive guy, is more interested in partying and having fun.

Feeling left out and frustrated by their social lives, Kevin and Bruce decide to throw a “party for two” at their apartment, where they plan to drink, dance, and invite a few people from work. However, as the night goes on, their party expands into a much larger gathering, attracting a cast of eccentric characters, including a former child star (David Christian Welborn), an offbeat chef (Khary Payton), and a lonely office worker (Monique Coleman).

As the group gets to know each other, secrets are revealed, friendships are tested, and chaos ensues. Throughout the night, Kevin struggles to win over Veronica’s affections, while Bruce gets into trouble with an overbearing neighbor (Brenda Davidson) and battles with his own inner demons.

Loners is a quirky and lighthearted comedy that explores the themes of social isolation, identity, and the search for human connection. The movie is full of witty dialogue, awkward situations, and unexpected twists and turns. Brian Letscher and Tyson Turrou give standout performances as the odd couple roommates, playing off each other’s contrasting personalities and quirks.

David Christian Welborn adds a touch of nostalgia to the movie, portraying a former child star who is trying to find his place in the world. Khary Payton also delivers a hilarious performance as the quirky chef, bringing a much-needed injection of energy and chaos to the party.

The movie is set almost entirely within the confines of Kevin and Bruce’s apartment, giving it a claustrophobic and intimate feel. The cinematography is simple yet effective, using subtle camera movements and lighting to capture the tension and emotion of the characters.

One of the strengths of the movie is its ability to balance humor with moments of genuine emotion and poignancy. Loners tackles serious topics like loneliness and self-doubt with sensitivity and compassion, while still managing to be a lighthearted and entertaining romp.

Overall, Loners is a charming and offbeat comedy that offers a fresh perspective on the human need for connection and belonging. It’s a movie that will make you laugh, cringe, and maybe even shed a tear or two. If you’re a fan of indie comedies and character-driven stories, then Loners is definitely worth a watch.

Loners is a 2019 comedy with a runtime of 1 hour and 30 minutes. It has received moderate reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 5.5.
