Loitering with Intent is a comedy-drama indie film that tells the story of two struggling co-writers and lifelong friends, Dominic and Raphael, who reunite to write a screenplay for a friend's upcoming project in upstate New York. As the film opens, we see Dominic and Raphael struggling with their individual careers. Dominic (portrayed by Martin) is an actor who always seems to get cast in roles where he plays a cop, while Raphael (played by Godere) is a writer who has been struggling to finish his debut novel for years. The two have been friends since childhood and have always dreamed of writing a screenplay together. But they never seem to find the time to start.

To their rescue comes their friend Devon (Tomei) who is set to film a movie in the next two weeks. She offers them a chance to write the screenplay for her film, but they must have it finished in ten days. This opportunity has come at the right time as they need the money to support their individual careers. Excited about the opportunity, Raphael and Dominic decide to spend ten days in a remote cabin in upstate New York to write the screenplay together.

As they settle into their cabin, it becomes clear that the two friends have vastly different approaches to writing. Raphael is a perfectionist who agonizes over every word while Dominic is a more improvisational writer who thinks nothing of ripping up pages and starting over. This disparity soon leads to tension between the two, and they struggle to find common ground.

In the course of their ten days in the cabin, they come across their respective ex-girlfriends, played by Isabelle McNally and Britne Oldford, and their encounters with them affect their work and their friendship. While Raphael's former lover becomes a distraction to him, Dominic's ex provides inspiration and helps him improve on the screenplay. The interactions with their exes ultimately add emotional depth to the characters and create layers to their stories.

As they work to complete the screenplay, they also must navigate their relationships with Devon and her movie producer, played by Sam Rockwell, who starts poking his nose into their creative process. All the while, they struggle to balance their creative impulses with their financial needs and the ultimately, they must decide between artistic integrity and financial security.

The film is beautifully shot and well-acted, with the three main actors delivering excellent performances. Martin is particularly great as Dominic, showcasing a range that includes humor, vulnerability, and even some intense emotional moments. Godere also does a great job portraying Raphael as a neurotic writer and Marisa Tomei shines in her role as the film's catalyst.

Directed by Adam Rapp, Loitering with Intent is a smart, witty, and insightful film about the creative process and the complexities of human relationships. It showcases the struggles of aspiring artists and provides an honest reflection of the difficulties that emerge in creative partnerships. The film is funny, engaging, and at times, poignant, and is an enjoyable watch for anyone who appreciates good storytelling.

Loitering with Intent is a 2015 comedy with a runtime of 1 hour and 20 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 4.5 and a MetaScore of 49.
