Little Wolf's Book of Badness is a charming family film from 2003, directed by Peter Barnes and based on a book by Ian Whybrow. The movie follows the adventures of Little Wolf (Alexander Pownall), a young wolf who dreams of becoming a notorious and feared Badwolf like his father, Big Bad Wolf (Michael Gambon), who is the mastermind and leader of the infamous Yelloweyes Forest Criminal Gang. To prove himself and join the gang, Little Wolf must go to Fang Academy, a boarding school for young wolves, and complete three tasks from the Book of Badness, a manual that offers humorous and absurd instructions on how to be a proper Badwolf.

Along with his best friend, Normus Bear (Benjamin Zephaniah), who helps him with his plan, Little Wolf sets out to complete the tasks and become a legend. However, things don't go according to plan, and Little Wolf soon realizes that being bad might not be as glamourous as he thought. As he faces various challenges and meets other animals who show him kindness and compassion, Little Wolf learns valuable life lessons about friendship, respect, and the importance of being true to oneself.

The film has a delightful cast of characters, from the mischievous and cheeky Little Wolf, who is both endearing and frustrating in his determination to be bad, to the eccentric and villainous Big Bad Wolf, who is both charming and terrifying in his charisma and cruelty. David Thewlis plays the role of Uncle Bigbad, Big Bad Wolf's brother and Little Wolf's mentor, who is always ready with a witty remark or a helpful advice. Normus Bear, the sweet and loyal friend, provides comic relief and a moral compass, while other animals, such as a sheep, a hare, and a hedgehog, add to the whimsical and playful atmosphere.

The movie is visually stunning, with beautiful landscapes and vivid colours that create a magical and surreal world. The costumes and makeup are also impressively imaginative, with wolves wearing tweed jackets and bow ties, and other animals dressed in outfits that reflect their personalities. The special effects are minimal but effective, such as the use of animation for the tasks from the Book of Badness, which add to the film's charm.

The film's soundtrack is composed by Guy Chambers, who is known for his work with Robbie Williams, and it features original songs that match the film's style and themes. The music is catchy and upbeat, and it adds to the film's whimsy and energy.

Little Wolf's Book of Badness is a heartwarming and entertaining film that combines comedy, adventure, and morality in a way that appeals to both children and adults. The film's message about the power of kindness and the dangers of peer pressure is conveyed with humour and charm, making it both fun and thought-provoking. The film is a testament to the enduring appeal of classic children's stories and a reminder that being bad is not always good, but being good can be great.

Little Wolf's Book of Badness is a 2017 animated movie with a runtime of 25 minutes. It has received mostly positive reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 7.0.
