Lion is a powerful and emotional drama that tells the true story of Saroo, a young Indian boy who gets separated from his family at the age of five and embarks on a long and harrowing journey to find his way back home. The movie, directed by Garth Davis and released in 2016, features an all-star cast that includes Dev Patel as the grown-up Saroo, Nicole Kidman as his adoptive mother, and Rooney Mara as his girlfriend. Based on a memoir by Saroo Brierley, the film takes us on an unforgettable journey through the streets and landscapes of India and Australia.

The story begins in the mid-1980s in a rural village in central India, where the five-year-old Saroo lives with his mother, older brother, and younger sister. One night, Saroo accompanies his brother to the local train station, where he falls asleep on a bench. When he wakes up, he's alone and disoriented, with no idea how to find his way back home. Despite his best efforts, he ends up on a train that takes him thousands of miles away to Kolkata, the bustling capital of West Bengal.

Lost and alone in a crowded city, Saroo must fend for himself on the chaotic streets, where he encounters all kinds of danger and hardship. Fortunately, he eventually falls in with a group of street kids who help him survive and show him how to scavenge for food and shelter. But even as he adjusts to his new life, he never forgets his family back home, and spends his days searching for clues that could lead him back to his home in the village.

One day, Saroo is discovered by a kind-hearted Australian couple who are visiting India, played by Nicole Kidman and David Wenham. They see his potential and decide to adopt him and take him back to their home in Tasmania. Saroo begins a new life in a new land, where he learns English, goes to school, and grows up to be a successful businessman. But even as he thrives in his new home, he never forgets his past and remains haunted by his memories of his family and his homeland.

As an adult, Saroo becomes obsessed with finding his way back to India and reconnecting with his lost family. He embarks on a long and grueling search, scouring satellite maps and poring over childhood memories, until he finally discovers a needle in a haystack of clues that leads him back to his village and his long-lost mother and siblings. The reunion that follows is both tragic and triumphant, full of joy and sorrow, as Saroo confronts the ghosts of his past and learns to reconcile his two worlds.
