Life of Crime is a 2013 comedy crime film directed by Daniel Schechter and based on the novel The Switch by Elmore Leonard. The film stars Jennifer Aniston, Yasiin Bey, and Isla Fisher in leading roles. Set in 1978 Detroit, the movie follows two criminals, Ordell Robbie (played by Yasiin Bey) and Louis Gara (played by John Hawkes), as they plan to kidnap the wife of a wealthy real estate developer named Frank Dawson (played by Tim Robbins) and hold her for ransom. Their plan is to make Frank pay $1 million to get his wife back safely.

The target of their kidnapping plot is Mickey Dawson (played by Jennifer Aniston), who is not happy in her marriage to Frank and has been having an affair with another man named Marshall (played by Will Forte). Unbeknownst to Ordell and Louis, Frank has been planning to leave Mickey for his mistress, leaving the two criminals with a hostage whose husband doesn't want her back.

As the plan unfolds, things don’t go according to plan as the kidnappers begin to realize the challenges of their scheme with a volatile Frank and an unwilling Mickey. The film takes unpredictable turns as the duo struggles to keep up with the highs and lows of being kidnappers.

The film features a star-studded supporting cast including Isla Fisher, who plays Melanie Ralston, Mickey's best friend and also Frank's mistress. She is a fashion-obsessed socialite who gets caught up in the scheme and hilariously befriends the kidnappers.

The humor throughout the film is often dry and deadpan, with dialogue that is both witty and thought-provoking. The movie also incorporates elements of suspense and crime thriller, keeping the audience engaged and entertained throughout.

Jennifer Aniston delivers a strong performance as Mickey, a poised and self-sufficient woman who finds herself in an unexpected situation. Yasiin Bey and John Hawkes exhibit their edgy and wacky style of acting, as they portray two bumbling criminals whose flawed plan gradually unravels.

The film is also notable for its brilliant soundtrack, featuring an eclectic mix of classic R&B, jazz, and funk tracks that perfectly complement the action and mood of the movie.

Overall, Life of Crime is an entertaining and amusing crime comedy that highlights the impeccable talent of its cast and crew. With a great combination of humor, suspense, and dark comedy, it is a must-watch for fans of the genre.

Life of Crime is a 2014 comedy with a runtime of 1 hour and 34 minutes. It has received moderate reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 5.8 and a MetaScore of 60.
