Bruno Davert works for a Belgian paper mill, making their products better and implementing savings for the company. One day the company suddenly decides to downsize and lays off 600 of the staff, Bruno is one of those 600. Two years go by and still Bruno cannot find another job even though he has filled out many applications. He begins to lose his self-esteem as he watches his family struggle and give up many of their daily comforts, and his wife is forced to take two part time jobs. Bruno realizes he cannot find work because there is too much competition in his field. He decides to start eliminating that competition by killing those more qualified than him.
