This Pakistani romance drama film debuted in theaters in 2003. It is set in India, Pakistan and Malaysia. The film follows an elderly Sikh woman who was saved from violent mobs by a Muslim man during the division of India in 1947. She secretly invites her family to visit her not revealing who she is or that she has converted to Islam. It is during this stay, that a romance blossoms between a Sikh girl named Preetam and a Muslim boy named Shamil from the two families. The two fall in love, but their families would never accept such a union between different faiths and cultures.
