As a poacher, Reba (Yancy Butler) gets to chase large crocodiles and use her skills to put them down. It is her experience handling these crocodiles that gets her enlisted by the EPA. Reba is asked to accompany Sheriff Giove (Elisabeth Röhm) in snatching a crocodile from the infamous Lake Placid, the task goes smoothly, until mama gives chase.
Mama is determined to get back her young one and gives chase as Reba takes off. Lake placid is having an electrical fence installed around it, for the purpose of protecting the local residents and the crocodiles alike. Reba and her team barely make it to the other side, as the crocodile does everything in her power to catch them.
As sheriff Giove and her team try to convince the town that there is no danger from the crocodile running loose behind the electric fence, Jim Bickerman (Robert Englund) and some of his buddies decide that this would be an opportune time to go crocodile hunting. They sneak in behind the electric fence with high power rifles and high hopes.
The sheriff’s daughter Chloe (Poppy Lee Friar) decides to join her classmates on an overnight camping trip to one of the local lakes, leaving Giove back at home to have a date night with Loflin (Paul Nicholls) in the mean time, Chloe's bus driver (being distracted) has managed to take the wrong turn and is heading for lake Placid instead.
The kids are having a great time at Lake Placid, until the crocodiles get ready for breakfast. By the time they realize they are at the wrong lake, it is too late and the feeding frenzy starts. Sheriff Giove gets a call that there is a problem at the lake and one of the gates were left open and the hunt for survivors begin.
The sheriff realizes that her daughter is at the scene, but nowhere to be found and seeing all the blood, she fears the worst. Don Michael Paul directs this fourth installment of the Lake Placid sequel, which has supporting roles by Sewell Whitney as Coach Macklin, Jeff Stewart as Deputy Nermal and Benedict Smith as Max
