Lake Eerie is a suspenseful horror movie from 2016 directed by Chris Majors. The movie follows Kate, an artist in her late twenties, who recently lost her husband to cancer. In order to leave behind the memories of her painful past, Kate decides to move into a lakeside house. The house is surprisingly huge and beautiful, however, it was left abandoned for years. Kate feels that it's a perfect place for her to finish her last painting and live in peace surrounded by nature.

After a few days of living in her new house, Kate starts experiencing strange occurrences. She hears bizarre noises, discovers disturbing messages and witnesses strange visions. She seeks advice from her neighbor, a seventy-year-old man named Walt, who tells her that the place she is living in might be a sacred land for the indigenous people, which explains the supernatural activity. He warns her that the house and the lake hide dark secrets.

From the moment Kate starts investigating the history of the house and lake, her life changes forever. She meets Eve, who is the granddaughter of the original owner of the house, and Walter, a priest who is investigating the same strange occurrences as Kate. They team up to uncover the real history of the house and to find a way to get rid of the evil that lurks within it.

As the story progresses, we learn that there is something sinister hiding in the lake, and that Kate's connection to it is deeper than she ever imagined. The deeper she digs into the history of the house and the lake, the more she uncovers about the mysterious force that haunts the place. It gets harder and harder for Kate to discern what is real and what is just a figment of her imagination.

What makes Lake Eerie stand out is how it manages to be so unsettling and engaging without relying solely on gore or jump scares. The movie creates an atmosphere of paranoia and doubt that is genuinely creepy. There is a constant sense of danger, and the tension is palpable throughout the movie. The pacing is excellent, and the film manages to keep the audience on the edge of their seats until the very end.

Lance Henriksen, who plays Walter the priest, is excellent in his role. He brings a sense of gravitas to every scene he's in, and his character helps to ground the story somewhat. Marilyn Ghigliotti and Betsy Baker, who play Eve and Dr. Fischer, respectively, provide excellent support to the cast, and help to keep the story moving at a brisk pace.

The movie is shot in beautiful scenery, and the camera work is excellent. The lake scenes are hauntingly beautiful, and the lighting adds to the eerie atmosphere of the movie. The music and sound design are also very effective, helping to build tension and provide a sense of foreboding throughout the movie.

In conclusion, Lake Eerie is an excellent horror movie that is worth a watch for fans of the genre. It has excellent performances from its cast, beautiful filming locations, and a well-paced and engaging story. It's rare to see a movie that relies on atmosphere and tension rather than jump scares or gore, and Lake Eerie manages to do that exceptionally well. The movie leaves it up to the viewer to piece together the story and to draw their own conclusions, which makes it all the more satisfying.

Lake Eerie is a 2016 thriller with a runtime of 1 hour and 44 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 4.0.
