Lady Death is a 2004 animated film directed by Andrew Orjuela and produced by ADV Films. It tells the story of Hope, a young woman who is condemned to Hell for her father's sins. While in Hell, Hope is transformed into Lady Death, a powerful warrior who leads an army against Lucifer and his legions. The film begins with a flashback to Hope's childhood, where she learns that her father has made a deal with Lucifer for wealth and power. As a result, Hope's mother is burned at the stake for witchcraft and Hope is left to live with her abusive father. When Hope confronts her father about his deal with Lucifer, he disowns her and sends her away.

Years later, Hope is betrayed by her fiancé and sentenced to death for witchcraft. As she is about to be burned at the stake, Hope remembers her father's deal with Lucifer and calls out to him for help. Lucifer appears and offers to spare Hope's life if she will serve as his lieutenant. Hope agrees and is taken to Hell, where she is transformed into Lady Death.

As Lady Death, Hope discovers that Lucifer is actually a tyrant who rules over Hell with an iron fist. She decides to rebel against him and leads an army of demons against his forces. Along the way, she meets a group of rebels who are fighting against Lucifer's rule. They include Cremator, an undead warrior who becomes Lady Death's loyal servant; Wargoth, a demon who is at odds with Lucifer for personal reasons; and Satasha, a seductive demon who helps Lady Death navigate the treacherous politics of Hell.

Together, Lady Death and her allies battle their way through Hell, encountering all manner of bizarre creatures and demonic beings along the way. They also face internal struggles, as Lady Death wrestles with her own guilt and anger towards her father. As the final showdown with Lucifer approaches, Lady Death must decide whether to continue fighting or to embrace her destiny as the ruler of Hell.

Lady Death is a visually stunning film, with lush animation and creative character design. The film's version of Hell is particularly impressive, with its towering spires, churning lava pits, and twisted landscapes. The film also features a strong voice cast, with Christine M. Auten delivering a powerful performance as Lady Death and Mike Kleinhenz bringing a lot of personality and humor to the role of Cremator.

One of the film's strengths is its exploration of Hope's character arc. At the beginning of the film, Hope is a naive and somewhat helpless young woman who is at the mercy of the men in her life. However, as she transforms into Lady Death, she becomes a powerful and confident leader who is willing to fight for what she believes in. Her journey is not without its setbacks, as she struggles with feelings of guilt and betrayal throughout the film, but ultimately she emerges as a complex and compelling protagonist.

Another notable feature of Lady Death is its use of music. The film's score, composed by Bill Brown and performed by the Seattle Symphony Orchestra, is a lush and epic accompaniment to the film's action-packed sequences. The film also features several vocal tracks, including the haunting opening theme "Born to Darkness" by the band Aria, which sets the tone for the film's dark and ominous atmosphere.

Overall, Lady Death is a thrilling and visually striking animated film that will appeal to fans of fantasy and horror. While it is not without its flaws - the plot can be somewhat confusing at times, and some of the dialogue is a bit clunky - it is a memorable and entertaining viewing experience. Whether you're a fan of the Lady Death comics or just looking for something new and exciting to watch, this film is definitely worth checking out.
