Laawaris is a Bollywood film released in 1999. The film stars Jackie Shroff, Dimple Kapadia, and Akshaye Khanna in lead roles. The movie was directed by Shrikant Sharma and produced by Sangeetha Pictures. The movie tells the story of an abandoned child who grows up to be a successful lawyer. The plot revolves around an abandoned child named Raju or Vikram, played by Akshaye Khanna. He is left to fend for himself as a young boy in a city train station. An old man named Ganpat, played by Om Puri, takes him in and raises him as his own. Ganpat sells tea on the platform and scrounges food from leftover plates. Raju learns the tricks of the trade and becomes a hustler himself, stealing from passengers and bribing railway officials.
Raju, now a young man, gets into a fight with a local goon, leading to his arrest by the police. In jail, he meets an elderly man who advises him to turn his life around and become a law-abiding citizen. Raju takes this advice to heart and decides to become a lawyer.
He works hard to pass his exams, and soon he graduates with a degree in law. He sets up a practice in the city and takes on cases where justice is not being served. He quickly becomes known for his skills in the courtroom.
One day, Raju gets a case that will change his life forever. He is hired to defend a rich man named Raja, played by Jackie Shroff, who has been accused of murdering his wife. Raja is very rich and powerful, and he tries to convince Raju to throw the case in his favor. However, Raju is convinced of Raja's innocence and promises to fight for justice.
Dimple Kapadia plays the role of the judge presiding over the trial. She is strict and no-nonsense in the courtroom, but outside the courtroom, she is dealing with a troubled marriage. She and Raju develop a close bond, and as the trial progresses, they both begin to suspect that there is more to the case than meets the eye.
The movie takes a turn when Raja's mother, played by Jaya Prada, enters the picture. She reveals a secret from Raja's past that could change everything. Raju must now decide whether to reveal this secret in court and risk everything or to keep it hidden and lose the case.
