The French movie La Haine is centered on the lives and experiences of three youths who were very good friends and the challenges they faced together while living in Paris just after the end of a violent revolt in the city. The film was full of suspense and this made it quite intriguing. The film covers nine hours of the lives and experiences of these four youngsters who were struggling to make a living with their families in the outskirts of Paris. They all lived in this poverty stricken neighborhood.

One of them who was a Muslim by name Vinz wanted to prove he was a criminal. So he assumed the role of a killer in a movie he had watched sometime in the past and vowed he was going to kill at least one police officer.

Another member of the gang Hubert was the oldest member in the group. He was a boxer by profession and also got involved in illegal drug trafficking. He suffered a loss during the riots as his gym was destroyed by fire. Compared to the others he was the most quiet and reserved. He was also very wise. He hated all that was happening around him in relation to the causes of riots which was hatred. He always told himself that if he had the courage and the means, he will one day leave this violent world.

Saiid was another member of the group who was always indecisive and uncertain about what he wants from life.

After these friends found out one of their friends Abdel was in a come after being brutally attacked by the police, they sought to take revenge on the police. Vinz discovered a soldiers gun and vowed he was going to use it to kill a policeman if his friend did not recover from the coma. Unfortunately for them, their friend died and they were determined more than ever to fight back.

The three went through a series of fights with police men and some racists. Vinz had the opportunity to kill a policeman as he had always wanted but was urged by Hubert not to do so.
