The movie revolves around Ehsaan Khan (Saif Ali Khan), a foreign professor teaching Islamic Studies at Delhi University, and Avantika Ahuja (Kareena Kapoor), a journalist who is going to America to teach media. They fall in love and get married, but Ehsaan's mysterious behavior and secrecy cast doubts in Avantika's mind.
