Kung Fu League is a 2018 martial arts action-comedy film directed by Jeffrey Lau, starring Wenzhuo Zhao, Andy On, and Yu-Hang To. The film is a combination of comedy, action, and sports genre. The movie follows the story of a group of misfit martial artists who team up to fight in a competition against a team of MMA fighters from the United States, representing a powerful corporation that wants to monopolize the martial arts industry in China. The tournament, organized by a wealthy businessman, offers a grand prize of ten million dollars to the winners.

The movie starts with Fei Ying Xiong (Wenzhuo Zhao), a former national kung fu champion, who has retired from martial arts and now runs a successful sports equipment business. He is married with two children and enjoys a comfortable life, but he feels incomplete and misses the excitement of his former fighting career.

One day, Fei Ying Xiong meets up with a group of young martial artists, including the street smart Hei Long (Andy On), the loyal Xiang Kuan (Yu-Hang To), and the eccentric Shi Ba Ba, who all idolize him and want to learn from him. They convince him to train them and become their master. Fei Ying Xiong, seeing their potential and determination, reluctantly agrees.

However, Fei Ying Xiong soon realizes that his new disciples are not in it for the love of the art but for the grand prize money. They all have personal problems and needs that the money can solve. Hei Long needs to pay off his gambling debts, Xiang Kuan wants to save his father's restaurant from bankruptcy, and Shi Ba Ba is searching for his long-lost love.

With the tournament approaching, Fei Ying Xiong is faced with a dilemma. Should he help his students win the tournament and achieve their dreams, even if it means compromising his own principles and values? Or should he teach them the true meaning of martial arts and risk losing the tournament?

The competition takes place in an arena filled with high-tech gadgets and special effects, and the fights are intense and exciting. The American team is led by a ruthless fighter named Mason, played by Michael Tong, who will stop at nothing to win. However, Fei Ying Xiong and his team have a few tricks up their sleeve, including their unique kung fu styles and humorous tactics.

The movie delivers plenty of action and fight scenes, but also has a lot of heart and humor. It explores the themes of friendship, loyalty, and honor, and teaches valuable lessons about the true spirit of martial arts. The characters are well-developed and likable, and the performances by the actors are excellent, especially Wenzhuo Zhao as the wise and charismatic master.

Overall, Kung Fu League is an enjoyable and entertaining movie that should appeal to fans of martial arts films and sports comedies. It has a good balance of action, humor, and drama, and delivers a positive message that is both inspiring and uplifting.

Kung Fu League is a 2019 action movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 42 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 4.9.
